The only thing different I would have done if I could have, is just have a plain white background...but kind of like the gauze look...

Gayle, nice subject. My comment would be that I felt this was more of a "natural light" project than negative space because of the light shining on the background of the backdrop. Of course, it's also a good negative space but my eye was drawn to the light in the background. I'm still trying to figure this one out, right?
Gayle, I love your choice of color combinations, and also the way you composed this photo with the cup off center to add drama. I would have to say the lighting bothered me too, but for different reasons. I would like to see you use a reflector for inside the cup, and also to brighten up the outside. There are just ever so slightly subtle shadows that are distracting me. Maybe it's just me. I have a dislike of shadows, for some reason. : ) Also, I want to see the inside of the cup as clearly as the outside, even if there's some kind of liquid in the cup (or especially if there is). Like I said, it might just be a fettish I have about shadows, cuz otherwise I love the picture.
This is a good negative space shot and every photo needs lighting no matter what type of light so that does not take away from this being negative space. Also the shdow does not bother me . I guess I am the oppostite of Penny where I think sometimes it can add to some photos.Nice compostion too!
